As the boys get back together today to start pre-season training it seemed as good a time as any to relaunch the blog. It has been a long old time since I last posted on here, October last year by my recollection, as I had lost a bit of enthusiasm for keeping it up to date. The move to Coventry in late 2014 still hurt going into the beginning of last season, matches are harder to get to and while the Ricoh is a lovely stadium it’s lost some of the intimacy of previous grounds. I still long for standing on the terrace and wish the FA would find a way to make safe standing a thing at our football grounds. I still watched games and cheered on from my sofa but some of my drive to tweet and blog had waned.
But this club and special group of players drew me back in. Wins away to Dublin and stunning victory at home to European Champions Toulon stoked the fires before Christmas. After Christmas I was in hook, line and sinker. We made it out of the European group of death. We won the European group of death! We nearly beat Toulon in their back garden. We won 10 in 11 matches in the Premiership. Big name players like George Smith and Charles Piutau were playing out of their skin and getting the best out of their teammates. I went up with a mate for the European quarter versus Exeter and witnessed one hell of a comeback. The buzz around the club was back , to borrow a phrase “something special was happening at Wasps”. The following weeks Wasps came up a little short against excellent sides in the semi finals but I knew my love for the club was back and that I wanted to get the blog back going again.
So here we are. We have had a fresh lick of paint and some of your favourite pages are back.
- The Squad – depth chart, international statuses, injury statuses, academy dual registrations and more
- Transfer Tracker – who’s in and out and where
- TV – our guide to watching Wasps at home (will be updated once Premiership fixtures are out this week and BT and Sky update their schedules)
We will also be bringing a round up of news and take a look at how the squad is shaping up as we head into the new season.
